This is Module 4 of a six part series on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), presented by Dr. Amna Anwar. Dr. Anwar MBBS, MPH has been with Indiana Rural Health Association as the Epidemiologist for two years. Her work has involved grant evaluations, project coordination and grant writing. She is currently working as the program director for Indiana Rural Opioid Consortium, which is a grant funded program under Health Resources and Services Administration for combating the epidemic of opioid overdose deaths and morbidity in the rural Indiana. Her research interests include health disparities, mental health and opioid addiction and vaccine preventable diseases.

Objectives:

1. Introduction to DSM definition and Opioid Use Disorder Construct within it.

2. Changes from DSM IV to DSM V in the definition of Substance Use Disorder.

3. Diagnostic Criteria for OUD DSM- 5 including the specifiers.

4. Steps to take at a clinical setting in diagnosing Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder.

This course has been approved for 0.5 hours of continuing education credits by the Indiana State University Continuing Nursing Education Program, accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
