This is Module 1 of a six part series on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), presented by Dr. Amna Anwar.  Dr. Anwar MBBS, MPH has been with Indiana Rural Health Association as the Epidemiologist for two years. Her work has involved grant evaluations, project coordination and grant writing. She is currently working as the program director for Indiana Rural Opioid Consortium, which is a grant funded program under Health Resources and Services Administration for combating the epidemic of opioid overdose deaths and morbidity in the rural Indiana. Her research interests include health disparities, mental health and opioid addiction and vaccine preventable diseases.

Objectives:

1. The participant will understand the extent of the problem of Substance Use Disorder in general and specifically Opioid Use Disorder

2. The participants will understand prevalence of substance use disorder in the nation and specifically in Indiana.

3. The participants will understand the prevalence opioid overdose

4. Mortality associated with Opioid Use Disorder in the nation and Indiana.

5. The factors influencing the status of the opioid epidemic

6. The cost attributable to opioid epidemic

 

This module has been approved for 0.15 hours of continuing education credits by the Indiana State University Continuing Nursing Education Program, accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
